A sneak preview demo video of Wahenga's new ‪#‎myLIVING‬ app for collecting ‪#‎HEA‬‪ #‎livelihoods_baseline‬ information is shown below. The app is designed and built to run on both iOS and Android, although the iOS version is shown here.

This app saves a massive amount of petty data entry and will enhance the quality of interviews by providing the user with appropriate feedback as they enter their data. Banish the paper forms, spreadsheets, data entry forever!

The South African Vulnerability Assessment Committee (SAVAC) and the Limpopo Provincial Vulnerability Assessment Committee (LimVAC), led by the National and Provincial Departments of Agriculture, respectively, are engaging in the first ever assessments in South Africa that use the Household Economy Approach as part of their data and analysis. The method being used by the SAVAC combines HEA with a randomly-sampled statistical approach for describing food security status called the Food Security Continuum, which was developed by the University of Pretoria.

Wahenga has been chosen to provide technical support to the SAVAC through its consultants and with its training modules. The field assessment teams have been prepared for the arduous work of collecting information on livelihoods in 54 villages and 324 interviews. This important assessment will provide details on the livelihoods of rural households in four livelihood zones in the province.

Watch the Wahenga News page for more details on the work!
